HYPE! Top 20 Chart 10/23/09
I know I forgot last weeks but I’m Back this week with the run down. The countdown is very spread in content not all gun song, gyal song, dance tune, it a mix up nice. Wasp nah doin so good him a tek a big loss from my last post. A very expected climb to first from one of my favorite tunes out now. I guess you will have to watch and see who that is.
Top 20 Chart 10/9/09
Seems like Gully may have taken this one in numbers but a possible technical win by Gaza. You be the judge. Some good tunes on there this week. I like some of the videos sometimes I wish the show were longer. We shall see about getting the whole show. Anyway start di video deh me a wait fi you.
Best of HYPE! Sept. 25th
Yep you guessed it. Another week of Hype TV has passed and we have the wrap up. This week you can expect behind the scenes footage of IShawna’s “I want you”. There is also coverage of the Golden Celebration 2009 @ The Quad. There were some words from none other than Kingston’s own Shelly-Ann Fraser. The first woman ever to to win Olympic Gold is 22 and is doing big things putting in that work and still having some fun. The guest artist of the week is Kariuki. I feel like with some growth of his sound he will be the underground Hip Hop Kardinal Offishal. Check out his mixtape here. In his interview he talks about his up bringing. He touches on a major topic that affects most minorities in the US, me included.

The usual suspects are on the chart Mavado, Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, and others. You have to watch to see who lands where and if Gaza triumps over Gully. Will your number one be “The Charts” number one?
The Iron Lion from Zion and Mickey Mouse?
A mouse and a lion walk into a corporate office….Tuff Gong teams up with Hollywood and Disney Records. They will have soul rights to distribute music in the Caribbean. Not only will they be able to distribute classics like Lion King, Little Mermaid, etc., but they will be able to move the popular Hannah Montana.
Disney has been topping the billboard top 20 charts with 3 albums this summer. This is no surprise when Disney has The Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana, and Rascal Flatts. This is a very wise move on the part of Tuff Gong. They have always moved well in the market. First with their own Bob Marley and the Wailers. Then to be followed up by Def Soul. And now they are moving records for Mickey Mouse himself.
